James Houk

Jim joined Search’s Local Leadership Board early September 2025 and currently serves as Vice Chairman. Jims history with Search goes way back!  Jim was first brought to Christ by an early Columbus Search local leader, John Hansel over 20 years ago.

 

Jim and his wife Karen have lived in Upper Arlington since they were married and attend Rock City Church in Hilliard. They have two married sons, John and Charlie and multiple grand children that all live in Columbus. His son John is active in Search as well. Jim co-founded his own design firm in 1993 and  is currently retired after spending over 40 years as a land development consultant and managing partner in the Architecture, Engineering and land planning business.  When not hanging with his grandchildren, Jim enjoys fly fishing and spending time with the family in Northern Michigan where he is president of a 130 year old Trout Club.

 

Jim was reunited with Search thru his relationship with John Ransom who he was involved with in the development of Rock City Church in Hilliard. He is a big believer of Search’s ministries "down to earth" approach to ministry and the tremendous success they have had developing new disciples for Christ
